Zoo Vienna

Zoo Vienna is the oldest zoo in the world. It was founded in 1752 and is part of the Schönbrunn UNESCO World Heritage Site. Since 2002, the zoo has been supporting the study on reintroducing Northern Bald Ibises into the wild and was involved as a partner in the first LIFE project.

As the project sponsor of the ongoing LIFE project, Zoo Vienna is responsible for project management, the coordination of the planned measures, as well as the project partners, public relations, and monitoring of the project's progress.

Förderverein Waldrappteam

Förderverein Waldrappteam was founded in 2002 to operate and promote scientific projects for the conservation and reintroduction of Northern Bald Ibises. This association executed the first LIFE project.

As a project partner, Förderverein Waldrappteam is responsible for population management, GPS monitoring, human led migrations, the establishment of a satellite colony for the new LIFE project and is also involved in public relations.

Fondazione A.R.C.A. Animal Research Conservation in Action

The ARCA Foundation was established in 2012 to protect and promote biodiversity for the benefit of all, and works closely with Parco Natura Viva.

In the ongoing LIFE project, the ARCA Foundation is responsible for the construction of the new infrastructure as part of the colonies founding in Bussolengo.

Kärnten Netz GmbH

The Kärnten Netz GmbH is the leading electricity and natural gas distribution network operator in Carinthia. Their tasks include network management, demand-oriented expansion, the necessary maintenance measures, and efficient troubleshooting management.

In the ongoing LIFE project, Kärnten Netz GmbH is implementing the security measures on power poles around the Rosegg breeding area.

In the first LIFE project, the state of Salzburg was responsible for the establishment of the breeding colony in Kuchl.

In the new LIFE project, the state of Salzburg is responsible for the implementation of the safety measures on electricity poles around the Kuchl breeding site.

Netz Oberösterreich GmbH

Netz Oberösterreich GmbH is the electricity and natural gas system operator in Upper Austria as well as for parts of Salzburg, Styria and Lower Austria. The smooth operation, optimal maintenance and customer-oriented expansion of the electricity and natural gas pipeline networks are in the hands of Netz Oberösterreich GmbH.

In the new LIFE project, Netz Oberösterreich GmbH is implementing the safety measures on electricity poles in the vicinity of the Burghausen breeding area.

Parco Natura Viva - Garda Zoological Park s.r.l.

Parco Natura Viva - Garda Zoological Park s.r.l.

The Parco Natura Viva was opened in 1969 and houses 200 different animal species on 42 hectares of land. Species conservation, research and environmental education are the objectives of the Parco Natura Viva. They were already involved as a project partner in the first LIFE project.

They are responsible for the establishment of a new breeding colony near Bussolengo as part of the new LIFE project on the grounds of the Parco Natura Viva. They are also involved in public relations work in Italy and the campaign against illegal bird hunting.

Goldau Zoo

Goldau Zoo

Goldau Zoo was founded in 1925 and is both a nature conservation center and a recreational area. It offers visitors the opportunity for close contacts with different European animal species and is involved in international projects for conservation and reintroduction of endangered animal species.

In the current LIFE project, Zoo Goldau is responsible for the establishment of the first breeding colony of Northern Bald Ibises in Switzerland.

Rosegg GmbH Zoo

Rosegg GmbH Zoo

The Rosegg Zoo is Carinthia’s largest zoo and is located on a picturesque, historical mountain with a castle ruin. Since 2004, it has housed a free-flying, sedentary colony of Northern Bald Ibises. In the first LIFE project, the Rosegg Zoo was already involved as a project partner.

In the context of the current LIFE project, Northern Bald Ibises from the current sedentary colony at Rosegg Zoo are to be integrated into the migratory European population.

The non-profit environmental foundation WWF Germany aims to stop the global destruction of nature and the environment, conserve biodiversity, protect habitats, and create a future in which people and nature live in harmony together.

In the new LIFE project, WWF Germany supports the measures for sustainable protection of the Northern Bald Ibis and its habitats.
