Surprising sightings in Tuscany

Our team member Corinna Esterer has been in Tuscany over the last few days to attach new transmitters to some birds in preparation for the spring migration, which now also transmit the positions in the G4 network in addition to the G2 network.

Artificial conspecifics for the breeding birds of Überlingen

In 2022, we transferred breeding birds and their chicks of the Überlingen colony from the artificial breeding wall near Hödingen to a large niche on the Katharinenfelsen, a cliff on the shore of Lake Constance between Überlingen and Sipplingen, for the first time.

The incredible flight of Knubbel and her sad end

Knubbel is a juvenile female Northern Bald Ibis that hatched on June 3rd in Überlingen at Lake Constance and grew up there. During the autumn migration, the bird lost contact with its conspecifics in northern Italy. From then on, it showed the south-west orientation typical of unaccompanied juveniles.
